Am I a Candidate for a Facelift and Necklift?

Have you reached the inevitable point in your life where your face skin begins to loosen and sag, especially in the cheek and jowl areas? Then you’re probably a great candidate for a facelift. A facelift procedure addresses the mid face – the areas around your eyes, nose cheek and sides of the mouth.

If you have loose skin under your chin and around your neck, then you may need a necklift as well. A necklift  is necessary to get the best results possible for the lower third of the face, getting rid of your jowls and defining your jaw.   A neck lift can enhance the upper neck area as well as the skin under your chin, providing a youthful appearance to your cheeks and ridding you of a double chin.

What Refinements Do You Offer With a Facelift and Necklift?

I offer the latest advances for facelift and necklift that help to give you longer lasting and aesthetically pleasing results.

With advances in fat grafting, I can address the wrinkles in your eyes, cheeks, and lip areas to give you longer lasting youthful results.  Your own fat is the ultimate filler, since it is natural, can not be rejected or cause an allergic reaction, and you have the optional added benefit of getting a better body contour!

The SMAS –  Superficial Musculo Aponeurotic System – is the underlying fascia of the face and neck that is tightened to give you longer lasting results.  Recent refinements in SMAS tightening will give you a natural look and quicker recovery time compared to older, more outdated methods.

How does a Facelift with Necklift Differ from Just A Facelift?

A facelift and necklift are usually what most patients need, since most patients desire augmentation of the entire face, jawline and neck area.   A facelift by itself will take care of the mid face and lower face areas, but will not be able to fully take care of your jawline, loose neck skin, or the muscle bands that may exist in your neck.  Finally, without a necklift, the amount of loose skin that I can remove from your face is limited because I can’t drape the skin properly behind your ear.

Can I get a Necklift done without a Facelift?

Yes, it is possible to get a necklift without a facelift.  The best candidate is someone with slight to moderate loose skin of the neck, and slight loose skin of the face.  The neck muscles may need to be tightened through a separate incision under the chin. Also, liposuction should be able to correct the mild to moderate amount of fat under the chin.

If you have a lot of loose neck skin, have a moderate to large amount of neck fat, or require a loose skin to be significantly tightened around your jawline or cheek areas, then you may not be a candidate for only a necklift.  However, you will probably need a necklift with a facelift to achieve your best aesthetic results.

Am I a Candidate for a Facelift and Necklift?

If you have loose skin in your face and neck area, are in good overall medical health, and have realistic expectations about facial rejuvenation, you’re a great candidate for a facelift and necklift.

A facelift and necklift will not enhance the quality of your skin.  To get better skin quality, texture, and color, you will need other procedures to exfoliate your skin and enhance skin regeneration so that your skin will have fewer wrinkles, feel better, and look refreshed and rejuvenated.

What is the Recovery Like for a Facelift and Necklift?

My patients typically need about 10-14 days to recover from a facelift, necklift, and facial fat grafting in order to get back to work and life with minimal to no makeup.  Incisions start healing rapidly, and the sutures are removed 5-7 days after the procedure.

Bruising is minimized due to my gentle surgical techniques  along with the use of the latest anti-bruising and anti-bleeding medications and maneuvers to ensure rapid healing with minimal downtime.

Pain medication is given at the at the end of the procedure to ensure that a numbing effect will last for 3 days after your procedure, ensuring consistent pain control as well as a lower need to take pain pills right after surgery.

How Long Will My Facelift and Necklift Results Last?

In general, your facelift and necklift results should last for years.  The amount of surgery necessary, your overall skin quality, how vigilant you are about sun protection and skin care after your facelift and necklift, and other factors will determine the longevity of your procedure.

Any non surgical procedure that maintains excellent skin health, such as prescription skin care, microneedling, exfoliating procedure, PRP applications and injection, dermal fillers, and other options will all enhance your facelift and necklift results.  Some articles I have written about these non surgical procedures are listed here:
