We’ve all heard of the tummy tuck (abdominoplasty). But did you know there are different types of tummy tucks that your surgeon will recommend based off your current figure and your desired result.
LIPOSUCTION (WITHOUT TUMMY TUCK)
GREAT CANDIDATES HAVE:
- Slight to moderate amount of fat
- Excellent skin tone
- No wrinkles in skin
- No loose skin when leaning over
MINI TUMMY TUCK
GREAT CANDIDATES HAVE:
Wrinkled or loose skin only over the CENTRAL PORTION of the abdomen
REGULAR TUMMY TUCK
GREAT CANDIDATES HAVE:
- Wrinkled or loose skin over the abdomen and side areas /pelvic area
- Small to moderate amount of fat at love handles
- (vast majority of patients are candidates for this type)
EXTENDED TUMMY TUCK
GREAT CANDIDATES HAVE:
- Significant weight loss – typically 50 pounds or more
This procedure includes an extended incision to the sides. It brings a higher likelyhood of revision surgery to ensure symmetry
Liposuction isn’t technically an abdominoplasty, one of the most common questions I get is whether a patient need a tummy tuck or if liposuction alone will suffice.

I always recommend consulting your surgeon to see whether you qualify for liposuction, abdominoplasty, or both!
