Why I Recommend Under Eye Fillers Be Done on Thursday Afternoon or Friday Afternoon

August 4, 2020

Most of my patients, surprisingly, don’t enjoy going to work with swollen or bruised eyes. Sunglasses inside aren’t the best look. This is why I always recommend they get their under eye filler on a Thursday or Friday (or whenever they have a few days they can avoid being in public).

Why Are Dermal Fillers Given Under the Eyes?

Hyaluronic Acid Fillers are given under the eyes to fill in the deep wrinkles of the lower eyelid or fill in the hollow areas around the eyes. The dermal filler will mask the signs of aging under the eye.

Why Do I Recommend Getting Under Eye Filler on Thursday or Friday?

Everyone’s body reacts differently to filler. Some patients who are prone to bruising or swelling risk these symptoms after filler. Conversely, other patients experience no symptoms after injection and are safe to go to work immediately after.

Your eyelid skin is quite thin which is why there is a possibility of slight bruising or swelling. And, because your eyes are the focal point of your face, even the smallest bruise has potential to be noticed.

I can reduce the risk of bruising or swelling by using a blunt tip Cannula instead of a needle. Needles penetrate the skin whereas the Cannula cannot pierce the skin due to its blunt tip. This allows for less possibility of passing a vein or artery which leads to bruising. However, though Cannulas lower the risk of bruising, there is still a chance a patient may experience slight bruising.

How Can You Avoid Bruising?

Before any injection, make sure that you avoid any medications that increase bleeding. The main culprit is anything in the aspirin family, such as ibuprofen or similar medications.

After your injection, make sure to ice the area and also avoid strenuous exercise for several hours.

At night, try to elevate your head above heart level. This can be done by sleeping on several pillows underneath your back. This will also help reduce swelling.

How Do I Book A Consultation For Under Eye Fillers?

Call/text my office at (415) 362-1846 or email info@drkim.com, and my Patient Care Coordinator will get you started!

Consultations typically take 45-60 minutes, and I do the entire consultation personally, without the use of a nurse or helper to vet your questions and concerns without me present.

If you are uncertain if you are a candidate for under eye fillers, send photos of your under eyes to info@drkim.com and my Patient Care Coordinator will assist you. I can look at your photos and help you determine if you are a good candidate before coming to my office. There is no charge for this service.
