Non Surgical Rhinoplasty San Francisco

July 19, 2018

Many people stray from rhinoplasty because they don’t want to go under the knife. However, enhancing your nose doesn’t always mean surgery. With the use of dermal filler injections, a nonsurgical rhinoplasty can be performed in the office in 20 minutes with little to no downtime. To learn more about dermal filler, head here.

What is a Nonsurgical Rhinoplasty?

A nonsurgical rhinoplasty is when dermal filler is injected into the bridge and/or tip of your nose to refine the shape. This is usually done in the office with HA (hyaluronic acid) filler.

If you lack a bridge or prominence to the bridge of your nose, I can augment it with dermal filler.

If you have asymmetry or a hump of the bridge of the nose, I can camouflage it by injecting dermal filler around it.

If you would like the tip of your nose to be more defined, I can use dermal filler to make the tip appear less flat, more sharp and defined, and give you a more aesthetic appearance overall.

Are You a Candidate for a Nonsurgical Rhinoplasty?

You are a candidate for a nonsurgical rhinoplasty if you have not had extensive surgery to your nose in the past and if you have normal bleeding. Extensive nasal surgery, such as previous multiple rhinoplasties, any silicone nasal implant in your nose, and other types of procedures may not allow me to inject dermal filler safely in your nose.

Typically patients who want to augment the bridge of their nose have flat noses in relation to their face, such as my Asian patients.

Usually patients who have a bump or asymmetry on their nose that they wish to camouflage are my non-Asian patients.

Everyone seems to want a more defined tip of the nose! If you have what is considered a flatter or wider nasal tip, then non surgical rhinoplasty will be able to give you a more defined tip.

If you are considering surgical rhinoplasty but want to “try out” what you would look like without actually undergoing surgery, then nonsurgical rhinoplasty may be a great way for you to see what you would look like. The added enhancement is that I will ask you to provide input to your final result, so you have more control over the final aesthetic result.

What is the Procedure Like for a Nonsurgical Rhinoplasty?

You come to my office for a consultation, and after carefully assessing your nose and going over your aesthetic goals, I will then place numbing cream over your nose area. After several minutes, I will wipe off the numbing cream, use ice packs if needed for extra numbing, and then inject filler into the desired areas.

What Are the Risks for a Nonsurgical Rhinoplasty?

Some swelling is normal, and can be treated with ice and head elevation.

Bruising is uncommon but can happen. I use a cannula if possible with my dermal filler injections to help minimize bruising. Ice and compression will also help reduce bruising.

Pain is minimal after a non surgical rhinoplasty and usually acetaminophen is enough for pain control.

Rarely, you can have significant bruising or even dark areas form right after your non surgical rhinoplasty. Typically, I would have to use melting agent in this extremely rare case for your dermal fillers.

What Is the Recovery Like After a Nonsurgical Rhinoplasty?

At the end your non surgical rhinoplasty, you will use ice packs in the office to reduce swelling, and then you will be able to go back home.  Pain should be minimal and controlled with acetaminophen if needed.

How Long Will Your Results Last After a Nonsurgical Rhinoplasty?

Your non surgical rhinoplasty results should last for about 12 months or slightly longer.  Eventually, your body will absorb your HA filler and your nose will look like it did before your non surgical rhinoplasty.

How Do I Book A Consultation For Nonsurgical Rhinoplasty?

Call my office at (415) 362-1846 or email info@drkim.com, and my Patient Care Coordinator will get you started!

Consultations typically take 45-60 minutes, and I do the entire consultation personally, without the use of a nurse or helper to vet your questions and concerns without me present. Consultations are $150, and the cost of the consultation goes towards the cost of surgery when you decide to book your procedure.

If you are uncertain if you are a candidate for a non surgical rhinoplasty, ask for my Patient Care Coordinator at info@drkim.com and send in your photos of your nose. I can look at your photos and help you determine if you are a good candidate before coming to my office. There is no charge for this service.
