Non Surgical Face Rejuvenation in San Francisco with Dr. Roy Kim

August 17, 2018

Dermal filler, neurotoxin, lasers, micro-needling and the likes have opened up a whole new world when it comes to non surgical face rejuvenation. It used to be that if you wanted to change areas of your face, you’d almost always have to go under the knife. Thanks to modern technology, we now live in a world where a simple visit to your surgeon’s office can turn back the clock with little to no downtime.

Are You a Candidate for Non Surgical Face Rejuvenation?

If you want to improve the wrinkles and hollows of your face, make small to moderate changes to your nose, cheeks, chin, lips, and other facial areas, or want to improve the quality and texture of your skin, then you are a great candidate for non surgical facial rejuvenation.

If you have loose face and neck skin, or want a longer lasting change to your face, then you are probably a better candidate for a facelift and necklift, with other surgical procedures such as fat grafting, blepharoplasty or rhinoplasty to name a few – which will give you longer lasting results.

What Refinements Do You Offer With a Non Surgical Face Rejuvenation?

For wrinkles of the face, fine to moderate wrinkles are usually treated with neurotoxin such as Botox, Dysport, or Xeomin. These injectables will weaken the strength of the muscle that causes wrinkles, and your wrinkles will disappear.

Moderate to deep wrinkles, as well as hollow areas of the face such as your eyes, are usually treated with a dermal filler such as Juvederm or Restylane. These fillers are made out of Hyaluronic Acid, a chemical found in the joints of all humans. There is no allergy testing needed for these fillers, which makes them perfect for an office procedure.

Lip enhancement and rejuvenation can be accomplished with dermal fillers. These fillers can treat both the fine vertical lines around the mouth, or “smoker’s lines,” as well as provide volume to the lips. Fine wrinkles of the lips are treated with dermal fillers with less cross linking and a softer, thinner formula to avoid lumps and nodules.

Dermal filler can also be used for nonsurgical rhinoplasty as well as chin augmentation. This is a great option for those who want to see what they’d look like with surgery, without actually having to get the surgery immediately. It’s also a perfect option for those who don’t intend to go under the knife but want to change the appearance of these areas.

Your skin quality can be enhanced by prescription grade skin care, chemical peels, or PRP with microneedling. Whether you have acne, large pores, aging skin, fine wrinkles, sun damage, or inconsistent complexion, the aforementioned options provide much more effective results than over the counter products or facials.

How Is a Non Surgical Face Rejuvenation Procedure Done?

Virtually all non surgical facial rejuvenation procedures are done in an office setting. After confirming all of the procedures you want, I use a unique 3 step process to ensure your procedure is as painless as possible.

With dermal filler, the results are immediate. Thus, during your procedure, you’ll have plenty of chances to check the progress and monitor the results. This makes the experience collaborative and allows the patients the exact results they desire.

At the end of the procedure, you will be given plenty of love, support, guidance, proper aftercare instructions and products to get you the best results possible.

How does a Non Surgical Face Rejuvenation Procedure Differ from a Facelift, Necklift, and Fat Grafting?

One of the main differences between non surgical facial rejuvenation and actual surgical procedures is that non surgical procedures are done comfortably in the office instead of the operating room. Similarly, these non surgical procedures don’t require anesthesia, whereas most surgical procedures do require anesthesia. However, these non surgical procedures may not last as long or have as dramatic an effect as surgery.

Non surgical facial rejuvenation is superior to surgery to rejuvenate your facial skin quality, however it is not effective in tightening loose skin.

What is the Recovery Like for Non Surgical Face Rejuvenation?

Recovery times vary by the procedure, but some swelling is to be expected. Bruising is not common, but can happen.

With skin rejuvenating procedures such as chemical peels, lasers or microneedling, your skin will most likely exfoliate and flake off. This is expected, since non surgical skin rejuvenation is meant to deeply rejuvenate your skin as compared to less effective over the counter products.

Each procedure will have different recovery time periods and expectations, so your recovery depends on what facial procedure you are getting.

How Long Will My Non Surgical Face Rejuvenation Results Last?

Neurotoxins will usually last 3-5 months, dermal fillers will last around 1-2 years, and facial skin rejuvenation will last 3-12 months. As you can tell, your results will last different amounts of time, depending on what procedure you get, your skin and facial soft tissue quality, and how your body recovers.

More details can be given based on what procedure you get.
