Roy Kim, MD is a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, and the California Society of Plastic Surgeons. His pursuit of technical excellence has earned him the respect of colleagues and applause from his patients.
Roy Kim, MD holds an undergraduate degree from Georgetown University, an MD from the University of Pittsburg and has performed general surgery residency at University of Chicago Medical School as well as a Plastic Surgery residency at Wayne State University before moving to San Francisco.
I love my job, and it shows! I have dedicated my life to helping others achieve their aesthetic and rejuvenating goals. My sharp eye and years of experience have allowed me to provide my patients with results that look natural, beautiful and rejuvenating. My only priority is to make you, my patient, happy!
Everyone is unique and your consultation with me will result in a plan that is just for you.
One size does not fit all, so after talking to you, taking a look at things, and even possibly using 3D “before and after” imaging software, we will come up with the optimal plan and strategy that works with your desires, expectations, time frame and budget.
Whether it’s a breast augmentation, facelift, an in office procedure of facial rejuvenation, or anything in between, you are unique, and I intend to make sure that you are the most glowing and beautiful version of yourself!
I received my BS in Biology at Georgetown University. I then went to the University of Pittsburgh where I earned my MD.
I completed 3 years of General Surgery at University of Chicago Hospitals, which lead me to my Plastic Surgery training at Wayne State University Hospitals as well as a Hand & Microsurgery fellowship.
I started as a Plastic Surgeon when I was 32 years old – one of the youngest Plastic Surgeons in the US at the time. I have thoroughly enjoyed every moment since!
Plastic Surgery has rapidly evolved over the past couple of years and is continually advancing.
I remember when I used to walk to and from school uphill both ways; Today, however, plastic surgery uses more refined techniques, better pain control after surgery, lower risk of certain complications, more natural looks, less invasive procedures, better instruments in the operating room – I could go on for hours!
I pride myself on keeping up with the latest techniques in plastic surgery because I love providing my patients with the safest and most current techniques and technology. It’s imperative to continue to learn and hone your craft.
I’m on several committees for the ASPS/ American Society of Plastic Surgeons, including the “Social Media” Committee and the “QPMC/ Quality Performance and Measurements Committee.” The Social Media Committee is a newer committee which is on the cutting edge of Patient Education and Patient Engagement. The QPMC measure what exactly is “quality” in Plastic Surgery, and works with the Federal Government to provide actual data that shows how effective Plastic Surgery can be in procedures covered under health insurance.
I review articles for the “PRS Journal,” the world’s most prestigious, largest, and popular peer reviewed scientific plastic surgery journal. II love reviewing my knowledge and learning the latest advances in world wide Plastic Surgery research.
I also have a healthy amount of skepticism. Sometimes I will not offer the “latest” technique or device because it’s not proven, or there is too much marketing hype involved. My patients know that I offer the most advanced techniques and devices that are actually proven to work!

Dr. Roy Kim is an amazing doctor. I have never had a plastic surgery before hand and I was a little nervous. He made me feel really comportable and was very professional. He immediately put me right at ease. When he took me into the procedure room, he spoke with me in detail about what I wanted and made sure he was clear. He explained everything he was doing during the process, took his time, and only gave me a little bit of product at a time to make sure I was happy along the way. He was so thorough, clear, consistent, and patient! I absolutely LOVE the results of what he did and would highly recommend him. I will certainly be returning. :)
