In the past, it’s been difficult to help patients visualize future plastic surgery results. As a plastic surgeon in San Francisco, the epicenter of worldwide software development, I have always had access to adequate software products to illustrate surgical expectations.
Unfortunately, these products were slow and required an office visit to “see” the before and after results.
Crisalix 3D is a cloud based software program that allows you, the patient, to create “before and after” simulations at home. Of course if you prefer, we can still use the program in my office. I’m excited to offer this new technology to my patients. Read on for more information about Crisalix 3D, and tips on how to use it for the best results.
Crisalix 3D software provides patients with a visual representation of what is possible for them with plastic surgery. It is powered by servers, rather than your computer. The “before and after” imaging is very fast, and it’s great for breast, face, and some body procedures. The images are kept private, and only you, the patient, can determine who sees them. Obviously, if you have a consultation with me, then eventually you and I can go over your expectations in person and come up with the best strategy to achieve your goals.
If you’re using Crisalix 3D at home, you take 3 photos of yourself- from the right side, from the left side, and straight forward, looking at your camera. Typically a smartphone or table camera is sufficient; you don’t need high resolution photos from a digital SLR camera.
Next, you upload the photos to Crisalix 3D. After a couple of minutes, you will get an email alerting you that your images are ready. You can then start creating “before and after” simulations of the areas of the body that you want, and see what is realistic and what is not.
You can book a consultation with me through Crisalix 3D, and my office will contact you to confirm the appointment. During the consultation, we can discuss your Crisalix 3D images and book your surgery date and time.
Another option is to make an appointment in my office first. There, I will take the 3 photos of you, and upload them to the Crisalix 3D software program. We can go over the images and review different options together, so you can determine the best plastic surgery strategy for you.
The key to getting the best results? Three GOOD photos. Crisalix 3D works better when your photos are from the side, and not on a slight slant, too low, too high, etc. This is true for face, breast, or body imaging.
For breast surgery, if you have breast sag, or “ptosis”, be aware that your imaging may not be accurate. It is difficult for Crisalix 3D to account for the shadows and the amount of skin lift you may or may not achieve. Keep in mind you may be a candidate for a breast lift in addition to breast augmentation.
Be patient when waiting on Crisalix 3D to generate your images. Depending on internet traffic, the speed of your connection to the internet, and other factors, it may take around 3-4 minutes for the 3D rendering.
Of course, Crisalix 3D plastic surgery software is a great tool, but it can’t do the surgery… yet. You still need to see me, for the input of an actual plastic surgeon who will listen to your concerns and help you achieve the best plastic surgery results.
Whether you’re looking to rejuvenate your face, reshape your nose, get a breast augmentation, or figure out exactly how to contour your body, Crisalix 3D imaging software is a great way to visualize what is possible for you.
